Sale, exchange & buyback

How weight, rates, hallmark, advances, exchange, and buyback work at Padmavati Jewellers — written for the counter, not online returns.

Effective · 6 August 2026 · Padmavati Jewellers

Scope

This Sale, Exchange & Buyback policy applies to jewellery purchased from Padmavati Jewellers at our counter in Uttan, Mira Bhayandar. It is written for gold and silver jewellery sold by weight and craft — not for open e-commerce returns.

Your tax invoice is the primary record of the sale. Keep it safe; exchange and buyback requests normally require the original invoice and the piece in identifiable condition.

Purity, hallmark, and weight

Wherever applicable, gold jewellery is sold with BIS hallmarking and declared purity. Net weight (and any stone or other deductions noted on the bill) is what we price.

Making charges, wastage (if any), GST, and other line items are shown on the invoice. Ask at the counter before you pay if any line is unclear — we prefer questions before the bill is final.

Rate lock and advances

Metal rates change. A rate is locked only when we issue a tax invoice (or a written booking that expressly locks a rate and amount).

Advances for custom or booked work are applied to the final bill. Cancellation of custom work after craft has started may forfeit part or all of the advance to cover metal and labour already committed — we will state this when you book.

No open returns

Jewellery is a high-value, hygiene- and trust-sensitive product. We do not offer a general “change of mind” cash refund after a completed sale, except where Indian law requires otherwise for a proven defect attributable to us.

If a manufacturing defect is found under normal use and is our responsibility, we will repair, replace, or otherwise remedy the issue in good faith after inspection.

Exchange

We may accept an exchange of jewellery purchased from us toward a new purchase, subject to inspection at the counter. Typical conditions include:

  • Original invoice from Padmavati Jewellers.
  • Piece intact, with hallmark readable where applicable; stones and parts complete unless the invoice says otherwise.
  • Value credited based on prevailing exchange rules we quote that day (often linked to weight, purity, and current metal rate), not the original making charges in full.
  • Custom, engraved, or heavily altered pieces may be declined or credited only as scrap / melt value.

Buyback

Where we offer buyback, it is at our discretion after testing purity and weighing the metal. Buyback rates are not the same as retail selling rates; they reflect melt / exchange economics on that day.

Old gold or silver not originally sold by us may be accepted only after assay, and only as a voluntary purchase by us — not as a consumer return.

Custom and made-to-order

Custom pieces follow the brief, weight, and timeline we confirm with you. Design revisions after work has started may change cost and delivery.

Custom jewellery is generally non-returnable and non-exchangeable except for proven manufacturing defect.

PAN, GST, and invoices

We issue GST-compliant tax invoices. For purchases at or above the threshold we configure under tax rules, PAN may be required before we finalise the bill.

Corrections to name or address on an invoice should be requested promptly. We cannot alter historical GST returns casually; ask the counter if a revision is needed.

Care and wear

Gold and silver need sensible care. Damage from misuse, chemical exposure, improper sizing, or unauthorised repair is not covered as a manufacturing defect.

Bring the piece to us for inspection before any third-party alteration if you want exchange or buyback options to remain open.

Disputes

Speak to us at the counter first — most issues are resolved by weighing, checking the hallmark, and reading the invoice together.

If a formal dispute remains, the laws of India apply, and consumer forums / courts with jurisdiction over our place of business may be approached as the law allows.
